Composting Sites
We operate composting sites at Isfield in East Sussex and at Chichester in West Sussex. Both sites are fully licensed by the Environment Agency. We primarily accept garden and park “green” waste collected by local authorities and private contractors.
All of the compost produced at Chichester is used as a soil improver on salad fields around the site. The trimmings from the salad crops are then recycled at our site along with other waste to produce more compost to be put on the fields. The farms have their waste treated locally meaning lower vehicle emissions, and then use the resulting compost on their land, again reducing emissions and also the use of industrially produced fertilisers. We are proud to be a part of this truly sustainable waste management loop.
In 2007 we recycled approximately 60,000 tonnes of waste and turned it into soil conditioning compost, reducing the burning and burying of waste and replacing chemical fertilisers and soil enhancers used on farmland.
We accept “green” waste from landscape gardeners and contractors – please contact us for gate fees and what we accept.
